Helen Lester Story Fun

Because it is a short week and because we are still hammering in routines and haven't started our Rigby reading series yet, my team and I decided to do the amazing {Helen Lester unit} that Monica Schroeder created.

If you haven't read these books, you don't know what you are missing! Here are the life skills that you will address when reading the books!

Of course, we started the week with Listen Buddy. We had to get them listening, right? We did the listening activity from the book. The kids had to listen to my directions to make the parts for their own 'Buddy' and this is what we came up with. What a hoot!

Yesterday, we read Hurty Feelings . . . LOVE this book . . . What? You don't like it?  YOU HURT MY FEELINGS!   Not really, but Fragility would have let that hurt her feelings. Here's a picture of the heart activity included in the {packet}, that we did to go along with our hurty feelings. I hung it in our doorway. They kids touch it everyday as they come into the room to remind them of . . . Well, if you want to know what it reminds them, you'll have to check out the {packet} for yourself!

Have a wondrous weekend! :)

  1. AHHHH! Your team is using it too:) That is so sweet! I am totally hanging my heart in my door way on Monday. I love that idea. I am also thinking of making a The Hurty Box part of my Writing Center where we keep adding times when our feelings get hurt and then have other students write letters of advice on how to handle the situation. Thanks so much for the shout out! I love your BUDDIES! Tell your kiddos Mrs. Schroeder thinks they did great even without scissors! ☮Monica
