Fantastic Website for Writer's Notebooks
9:30 PM
Hello! Well, I'm officially back in school now. Tomorrow begins my first full week with kids. I had my cute little Nuggets {thanks for the word 'Nuggets' Monica! I'm lovin' it!} for 3 days last week. Wow . . . the beginning of the year is exhausting!
I should actually be cutting stuff out right now, but I wanted to let you know about this {amazing website} that I ran into that has tons of great information on Writer's Workshop. The main thing I got so excited about was the notebook that she has set up. The first thing that is in the notebook, is a pencil pouch. That's where the munchkins keep the different colored pens for the writing process. I use the pens, but I couldn't figure out how to get them to be in the right place at the right time.
Then, the students use a notebook to write their first drafts and keep them in the notebook unless it is one that they want to publish.
You really MUST go to this website to read more. I really can't do this post justice, but there is one thing I do know! I am SO setting this up in my room tomorrow. Check it out! Gotta love Walmart!
I already have a bazillion folders at school that I can use for the folder pockets for revise, edit, and publish. Here's what those will be used for.
She has a lot of reference sheets that she uses in her notebooks. I will just use some of the ones that I have used for a long time . . . but now in a little different way! I am going to put the {I'm Done checklist}, the {Editor's Checklist}, and the {Punctuation Pirates} into sleeve protectors in the reference section of the notebook.
I will write up another post once I get my binders up and running. Seriously, you need to check out this {website}. . . it is great! Another one of my favorite things from there is when she has the kids write a sequence piece on how to go down a slide and then she goes and does it! What a hoot! So doing that one too!
Hope your year is getting off to a good start!
Talk to you soon!

If I have enough room in the binder, I think I am going to put my Words, Words, Words dictionary/reference guide in there! Remember . . . You get this free if you sign up for my {newsletter}!
If you would rather pay for it, you can do that {here}.
