Learning Targets Made Easy!

I don’t know about you guys, but trying to keep up with displaying my learning targets/standards is killing me! I have bought several different packs to make it easier, but it just isn’t. So, I decided that I would make some fun, blank cards that I can use to write the learning targets each day. Here’s a pic of mine in my room. These are the ones that I made quickly and in a pinch. I made some cuter ones for you guys! I felt like I was going crazy with trying to keep organized. I laminated these on tag board and wrote on them with a dry erase marker. Then, I just slapped a magnet strip to the back and VOILA! Ready to roll!                                      Sometimes it is hard to get dry erase marks off of lamination, so I just might use page protectors and hang my next batch up with Command Hooks. (Man, I LOVE those things! I hope these posters help keep you sane. I think they are going to save my life!  Click {here} to pick up a set of your own!

Hope you are having a fab weekend!

  1. We don't have to post our learning targets, but I like this idea! Thanks for sharing!

  2. We have to post standards, objectives and goals every day. And we have to state them multiple times during our lesson. And the kids are expected to know them if asked. I make a PowerPoint with my daily goals and we leave it up all day! Love your idea too!!!

  3. I really like the "Today you will learn" as seen in the very first photo just under your blog entry title. It kinda stands out from the board and captures your attention. I looked at your product preview on TpT. Did you just take that first page and cut out around the words? It's awesome!

We have to post our student friendly objectives based on the CCSS every day for every lesson. But I find that a bit over the top. So for ELA I put them on my focus wall and they stay up for the week. After all, we're covering the same standards all week long at various times through out the day. And a single lesson can have a few main target standards. I am able to manage a by-the-week system much better than daily.

Then, just recently at a staff meeting we learned that our new district focus will be weekly objectives instead of daily objectives and we were given the thought behind the transition. My quiet inner response was "duh." But on the outside I just smiled knowing I was already set up and ready to go. Sometimes you just gotta do what works and wait patiently for the rest of the world to catch up. :) hahaha

    1. I know, right?! I actually made the words separately as well as on the posters so you could make them the way you want them. Most of the targets stay the same for the week for me too!
      Thanks!
      Hilary!
