Our North Carolina Buddy Keychains

It is so fun to have a bloggin' buddy, especially one as awesome as {Mrs. Schroeder from The Schroeder Page}! Since we are such good buddies, we decided to send a little holiday gift to her class. We had a blast doing it too! We have been studying {inference}, so I took a picture of the kids doing an activity and Mrs. Schroeder's kids had to {infer} what was going on in the picture. Then, we practiced writing a friendly letter to our buddy. (Gotta apply the CCSS skills, right?)

Of course, we also wanted to send a little gift for them as well. We make {behavior bead key chains} in our classroom. (click the link to see how we make them. By the way . . . I changed the type of string I use because it stays tied more easily. It is a stretchy string for beads, and it is much thinner.)

I incorporate the beads with the {DOJO} points. For every 5 points, the kids earn a ticket for our school behavior program. The beads are determined by the behavior percentage on the {DOJO}. The kids with 100% get 5 pony beads, and 2 special beads. The special beads are fun shapes, sparkly . . . you know, special!

So, that is all to tell you that we made a key chain for our buddies as a holiday gift. We used different colored beads to tell them a little about ourselves. Here is how one of them came out. It was so fun putting them together. The kids were so excited to send some 'snow' to North Carolina. They don't get much snow down there! We did add a few spacer beads to make the key chain a little longer!

I hope you are having a wonderful and relaxing break. I have so much to do still, but I wanted to let you know that I am still alive and kicking!

I have a big surprise brewing for the new year, so stay tuned! You don't want to miss out!

Happy Holidays!
