Women in History Month Biographies
Did you know March is Women in History Month?! We have been working on Biographies A LOT, because it is such a great and easy way for kids to have CHOICE in their writing/research. See my last few posts about Biographies! If you are not on the Biography train, don't worry. You can still celebrate some AMAZING Women and their contributions to history.
I have these amazing Women in History Bubbleheads. Over 50 women to choose from to write research and use character traits. A character trait dictionary is included. You can use this to supplement research, as a culminating project, or a partner quick research. Those are just some ideas on how to use this. I left some resources below on websites, books, and dates.
The bundle below includes a lapbook for women in biography research that you can use to help assist you in looking for all the facts for your project. I love the lapbook because it aids students in the process and they know which steps they need to complete.
I love this book series for biographies. It is the Who Was... I call it the Bobblehead series because they look like bobbleheads on the front of the books. These books are awesome for a print source for research. They won't have every biography, but there are alot out in print.

Some Important Dates for this month:
- The National Woman's Party was formed in March 1917. The group was dedicated to getting women the right to vote.
- March 1st: Title IX was passed in 1972
- March 3rd: The first major march on Washington by suffragists happened on this date in 1913.
- March 8th: International Women's Day Itwas established as a holiday in 1911.
- March 22nd: The Equal Rights Amendment was passed in 1972.

Digital Math Games
It's almost March! Just one week away until the month that seems to last forever before Spring Break. I love March because that means that the weather is starting to turn into spring, even though it's warm one minute and cold the next! Tomorrow where I live it's going to be 60 degrees when yesterday is was a high of 20. CRAZY!
Let's talk Math Games this week! I know a lot of you are still teaching virtual, looking for classroom activities that are fun and engaging, or curriculum you can put on your personal sites so students can access them.
Math games allow students to have fun, use thinking skills, BUT are still able to review and learn concepts. These games below are great, because they show the students the wrong answer and once they do get it correct, it takes them to the next level. I post these on my website and have students complete. You can have them show their work on problems, use it as review, or have students work together or as a whole group.
If your students want more of a challenge, I use this Fraction Escape Room. It's longer, but it really CHALLENGES the students. I use it in January/February because I have already taught fractions or am getting ready to. My students love seeing which level they have passed in the game.
Check out the video preview below! Students can watch video embedded into the game on making equivalent fractions and ordering and comparing fractions. They then find the correct answers and match them to different space adventures. Once they find the answer, they get a code word they need to punch in for the LOCKS page to take them to the next level of the escape.
What are your students interested in? Whatever you are teaching in math, try some math games in your classroom. I love trying some new things in my classroom to break up these LONG winter days.

Some NO PREP Digital Resources to Use in Writing in the New Year
It's Winter Break for us officially! It's time to relax, BUT before I check out mentally for this holiday season, I am thinking ahead to the New Year. I like to have some things planned out or in my back pocket for when I change my mind, which is OFTEN when I go back to school.
Here are some popular and NO PREP Digital Resources to use for the New Year, as well as some EASY printable resources to prep. Don't worry, if it's printable it is an EASY activity that you can print and go. I am not into using a lot of brain power after a break so I need something that is easy.
Writing Resources for the New Year
Teach your students to write better sentences with this Digital Google Assignment. Graphic organizers, short example sentences for students to change into longer ones, rubric, and Author at Work poster are just some of the things included. Great for expanding a lesson in your classroom in the New Year!
I love this Writing Bundle for Minecraft. If you don't want the bundle I have both of these in print and digital. This is an EASY and NO PREP station activity or whole group/partner writing fun. Background scenes, characters to drag, and digital editing checklist. Perfect for ANY grade for getting even those reluctant writers a chance to explore something new.
This journal is perfect for a EASY prep for your classroom. I LOVE the editable prompts to tailor needs. Think about editing the prompt for something specific from a field trip, guest speaker, a unit you've just completed in science or social studies, or even a class read aloud! I love have these as a station activity or a take home for working on writing.
This last writing activity is just something that is super FUN for a great creative writing activity. This is not digital, but very low prep to get your students writing creatively. Don't let the Holiday thing deter you. This pack has a TON of winter characters, not just holiday. Students choose what they want to write about after the creation whether it's a poem, short story, letter, or jokes!

Halloween Digital Math Mysteries - Now with Narration!
Happy fall y'all! It has been a beautiful start to fall this year. Last year it seems like we went straight into winter!
I'm not sure if you knew that I retired in 2018. Well, I was loving it and then, in August, I went back to my old school to help a friend in her classroom. The next thing you know, the principal is calling me into her office to chat. The first thing she asked me was if I would like to teach a 5th grade, in-person class. I said absolutely not. Then, she asked if I could take a medical leave for a 1st-grade teacher AND it was teaching virtually. So, of course, I thought...how hard could it be?
WELL, I'm here to tell you that it was MUCH more difficult than I thought! I was in tears on day 2! It is an amazing amount of work and I'm sure you already know that! Well, that teacher still hasn't returned and I am now doing 1/2 days which is much more manageable. Wow! Teachers should be getting medals for the jobs they are doing nowadays!
Because I was able to go to 1/2 days, I am able to keep up with my Teachers Pay Teachers store. And, I have to tell you, I am just so excited to show you my newest version of my math mysteries! This is the second-grade version. Students have the option of being read to or reading on their own. Then, they answer the math problems with just a click. If they get the correct answer, the story continues If they get the wrong answer, they get a 'stopper' and click to go back and try again! So cool! Take a look at this video to see just how it works.
I am going to use narration for older grades as well, but the kids will just have to click the play button if they want to. I thought that would be good, especially for students who may have difficulty reading.
I have 1st and 2nd grade versions ready to go now, but I am working on 3rd and 4th grades as we speak!
Also, there is a Google Forms included in these digital versions as well. If you prefer to use Google, this is a good option. However, there isn't a narration option on Google. To have that, it would take the students to another site and no one wants that! Click the pics to check out these fun, engaging activities, just in time for fall break and Halloween!
