This super fun activity can be used MANY ways. It can be a fun writing for a winter poem, a first person narrative, letter writing pretending the recipient is real/imagined, or a made-up story! Your students will love to create their character and then write about it!

These are Digital OR Printable Math Mysteries so you choose what you may have time for! If you can't fit this in for this week, then make sure to scroll down to the New Year's Math Mystery!
This is in BOTH digital and print for multiple grade levels. This is NO PREP and you can see how your students like the math mysteries. The students like reading, solving, and knowing if their answer is correct with the self-correcting digital version.
Think ahead for 2022 and the New Year with something that will be easy to come back to. Inference activities are easy to use and a skill you can reteach or introduce easily in the New Year. These are 50% off for 2 DAYS ONLY!
Check out inferences using pictures and short stories! Students can write their own after you model using the pictures. There are also clue cards to use during station time or with a partner. This is a great introduction to teach inferences.

Holiday Help with FREEBIES and a NEW Holiday Escape!
It's almost time for the holidays! The last few weeks until winter break! What types of things do you look for to teach your students or to supplement your lessons?!
I am always looking for things that are FUN! Students don't often get a break and this time of year it's very hard for students to focus, hence the introduction of engaging holiday content. Let's look at some things I have found that will be sure to have success in your classroom. Whether you are supplementing a lesson, looking for station materials, partner work, or whole class activity, I will address ALL of those needs!
I love activities that are centered around independent or partner work. I can ALWAYS change it to a whole group lesson if needed, but I would rather students be able to work on their own, in pairs, or small groups while I am conferencing and meeting with students one-on-one during work time.
Math Mysteries are ALWAYS easy and fun!

These are Digital Narrated versions. What I love about these is that they use reading comprehension at the same time that students are using their problem-solving skills. There are paper/pencil versions available as well.
(P.S. AND they are full of holiday FUN!)
Escape Rooms are the next must-have for FUN and independent learning OR you choose how you use them! I have a NEW Escape Room below that is Stan the Snowman: Lost in the Snowstorm! This is a great 'Just for Fun' activity for that last day right before winter break. I am going to use it as part of the party!
Students also love the Holidays Around the World Escape Room. Students love to learn about the different counties and their traditions, while also solving the clues. Another great comprehension piece to enhance a unit study on traditions or a stand-alone lesson of learning.

During that last week before break, I am always looking for activities to keep students engaged. I like to do stations that students rotate through. Here are some station ideas for you!
Station #1: Inference Skills Made Easy! (FREE!)
Station #2: Snow Day Synonyms This is a word sort with synonyms. I like to put them in a pocket chart on the wall. There is a worksheet included for a check-up after completing the word sort.
Station #3: Creative Writing Station (Write a persuasive letter for a gift to receive, a persuasive piece getting an extra day off of school, descriptive writing of a gift they received, a thank-you letter to someone, winter haikus, or other poetry)
Station #4: ABC Order to the 3rd letter This is another word sort for students to manipulate the word cards and put them in order.
Station #5: Digital Math Mystery or Paper/Pencil

Giving Thanks and Freebies!

Battle It Out with Math Games!
Do you STILL have 50 things on your to-do list? Mine keeps getting longer. I haven't had much time to do anything since the start of the year, but I am FINALLY ready to release some NEW math games! I have been working on these Math Battle and Imposter games for all grade levels. There are different rooms to escape as you battle it out! :-) Think of these as Mini Escape Rooms- Math Style!
Use as a review, independent at home or school or partner work!

My students love the interactive graphics and beating the game to find the imposter.

It's Time for Fall Fun
It's after September 1st and even though that's not the "official" date of fall, I count it as the start. It is time to break out the pumpkins, apples, and cozy blankets! We celebrate fall at our school, but I do love that holiday at the end of October too. Get ready for fall!
Here are some of my Fall Mini Math Mysteries! These are perfect for stations, independent work at home or at school, or just a fun break. The BEST part is that the Fall Mysteries are FREE!

Halloween Digital Math Mysteries - Now with Narration!
Happy fall y'all! It has been a beautiful start to fall this year. Last year it seems like we went straight into winter!
I'm not sure if you knew that I retired in 2018. Well, I was loving it and then, in August, I went back to my old school to help a friend in her classroom. The next thing you know, the principal is calling me into her office to chat. The first thing she asked me was if I would like to teach a 5th grade, in-person class. I said absolutely not. Then, she asked if I could take a medical leave for a 1st-grade teacher AND it was teaching virtually. So, of course, I thought...how hard could it be?
WELL, I'm here to tell you that it was MUCH more difficult than I thought! I was in tears on day 2! It is an amazing amount of work and I'm sure you already know that! Well, that teacher still hasn't returned and I am now doing 1/2 days which is much more manageable. Wow! Teachers should be getting medals for the jobs they are doing nowadays!
Because I was able to go to 1/2 days, I am able to keep up with my Teachers Pay Teachers store. And, I have to tell you, I am just so excited to show you my newest version of my math mysteries! This is the second-grade version. Students have the option of being read to or reading on their own. Then, they answer the math problems with just a click. If they get the correct answer, the story continues If they get the wrong answer, they get a 'stopper' and click to go back and try again! So cool! Take a look at this video to see just how it works.
I am going to use narration for older grades as well, but the kids will just have to click the play button if they want to. I thought that would be good, especially for students who may have difficulty reading.
I have 1st and 2nd grade versions ready to go now, but I am working on 3rd and 4th grades as we speak!
Also, there is a Google Forms included in these digital versions as well. If you prefer to use Google, this is a good option. However, there isn't a narration option on Google. To have that, it would take the students to another site and no one wants that! Click the pics to check out these fun, engaging activities, just in time for fall break and Halloween!

Distance Learning with Digital Math Mysteries
Hi everyone,
I've wanted to make my math mysteries digital for a long time and with almost everyone trying to teach their classes remotely, I thought I better get to it. Hopefully, this will provide a fun activity for your little learners to enjoy at home and practice reading comprehension and math with story problems! The nice thing about math mysteries is they are self-checking. Kids start reading at the beginning of the story and answer math problems along the way. It's important for them to read carefully because some of the questions can be a little tricky. Check out this video to see how I made them on a Google form so you can assign them quickly and easily to your students.
I do also have some of my math mysteries as BOOM Learning digital cards as well. Click here to see all the choices of math mystery. I mostly have 2nd and 3rd grade available, but I do have some 1st, 4th, and K as well.
